John Luarinaitis was the GM of the episode of Smackdown and to make a statement out there he started the show with a steel cage United States championship match.
This past Monday Teddy Long gave an opportunity to Santino for the United States champonship match and taking it's advantage Santino had earned his United States championship by defeating Jack Swagger so to recover that John Laurinaitis had arranged this match to give Swagger a chance to regain U.S championship but that was wasted because of Vickie who wnated to close the steel cage door and didn't cared that Swagger was badly jured by that and santino took its advantage and retained his title.
